My mind spins to think we can still have people with so much time on their small hands that they spend it trying to keep the PC culture alive. In response to the attacks on Nationals Lockwood Smith may I say – grow up. The Oxford dictionary states racism as; 1.the belief that there are characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to each race.2. discrimination against or antagonism towards other races.
If we take the first definition then most of us are racists – we would agree that Kenyan’s have proven themselves to be exceptional runners over long distance, an ability you could say or characteristic. You could say that dark skinned people in general have a tendency to be faster over shorter distances (100m world record holders for example). Light skinned people seem to handle the cold better (a skin quality perhaps?). Stating the facts is not discrimination it is the observation of reality. Are we that blinded by being PC to believe that all people are equal in all things? It is just not reality. Equal opportunity? Yes. What happened to celebrating our differences? Life is too short to spend it trying to find something wrong with everyone around you. This is the sort of behaviour that distracts us from real issues in politics – the childish bickering of grown men and women. Leadership requires that you face reality, deal with it and produce solutions – not more problems. Kiwis are better than the PC world that has been created in this country. Vote for change.
