I noticed a few errors in the Heralds reporting on the Kiwi Party (1/10/2008 pg 6 Pro-Smackers Lead Kiwi List) and thought the professional journalists there might be keen to do a little research and unbiased reporting. I got the hint that the reporter does not support the right for parents to discipline their children, or think much of the Kiwi Party but let’s stick to the facts. Mr Baldock is not the ‘smacking’ petition organizer as you state. He led the petition on the right of parents to discipline their children. The Kiwi Party is not claiming to be a Christian Party, it is a party founded on the timeless Kiwi values that are based on Judeo-Christian principles for living. Principles and religion are quite different things. Mr Copeland did not ‘quit’ United Future as you state, he stood his ground and continued to serve his country in Parliament where he would not be tainted with opposing decision making. The issue was not ‘reasonable force in child-abuse cases’ as you stated, it was the right for parents in any situation to discipline their own children. I trust this clears things up.

Labour national debate - letter to ed
The people have been silenced from supporting their chosen representatives in government with the pushed-through-in-the-dark-of-night Electoral Finance Bill, publically opposed by a landslide. Now we have two people who portray themselves like you and I who have decided their opinions are the only ones that need to be heard. I’m not sure where I see the democracy in this..? Many key investigative issues in the beehive have come from minor parties. The most recent perhaps is Gordon Copeland’s bringing to light of the Winston Peters saga and Rodney Hide latching on to it for dear life – and doing a fine job I might add. I would love to hear the questions and answers from these guys on debate night. I shudder to think what amiable, Broadway show of a debate strategy has been worked out by Labour and National, perhaps at the same time they agreed on their position together in regards to the anti-smacking legislation which was again, against the will of the people. I will not vote for any party who would ignore the right of free speech and aim to silence their opposition rather than face them. We are not out of options that we must be dominated by control. We are a civilized nation that believes in the timeless Kiwi values of our grandparents, and they believed in democracy. There is a group of Kiwi’s who defend democracy and represent the people.. a party for KIWIS.
